Exeter and Crediton Railway Company
Incorporated on 21st July 1845. Not to be confused with an earlier company of the same name.
A broad-gauge line linking the Bristol and Exeter Railway with the North Devon Railway in Crediton. It was leased to the Bristol and Exeter company, but later sold to the London and South Western Railway in 1879, and so was one of very few broad-gauge lines not included in the Great Western network. Rails were converted to mixed gauge shortly after.
Capital £70,000 in 2,800 Whole Shares of £25 each. Loans of £23,333. Increased in 1850 by £20,000 and £6,666 respectively.
