Formed in 1904 with head office in St. Petersburg. Initial capital was 600,000 roubles in shares of 1000 roubles. In 1912, capital was increased to 1,800,000 roubles by the issue of 12,000 shares of 100 roubles. The original 1000 rouble shares were exchanged for 10 shares of 100 roubles.

Description

The company was founded by the Chapchal brothers in 1873 to produce tobacco in St. Petersburg. Expansion followed in the 1880s and the firm became a joint-stock company in 1904. By 1912, the company employed approximately 1,000 people.
