Regents Canal
Founded in 1812 to build an 8.6 mile canal joining the Grand Union Canal at Paddington, North London to the Thames at Limehouse. Architect John Nash was a director and he created several tunnels and the area in Maida Vale now known as Little Venice. Trade lost to the increase in railways who tried to buid along its route but planning was never granted. In 1904 became the Regents Canal and Dock Company. Now used for recreation.
