Bengal Burma Steam Navigation Company Limited

Incorporated under the Indian Companies Acts in 1925 in Rangoon. Managing director was Abdul Bari Chowdhury, a leading Indian merchant of Burma. The company explored a shipping line from Chittagong to Rangoon, via Akyab, Kyavpyu and Andrew Bay. Furthermore, a coastal line connected Chittagong with Cox’s Bazar. In 1932 Bengal Burma Steam Navigation Co. was taken over by the Indian owned Scindia Lines (Bombay/Mumbai), but continued to operate under its own name. The company was liquidated in May 1951 and registered ownership of ships transferred to the Scindia Steam Navigation Co.
Capital 25,00,000 rupees divided into 1,00,000 shares of 25 rupees.
