London and Blackwall Railway Company
Incorporated on 17th August 1839
A line connecting Central London to many of the cities docks, built in the 5ft gauge between Fenchurch Street and Blackwall. The company had been formed to take over the powers originally granted to the Commercial Railway of 1836. The London and Blackwall company went on to jointly build the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway with the Eastern Counties company. The line was later leased to the Great Eastern Railway from 1865.
Original capital £800,000 in consolidated shares of £16.13.4d each, and new shares of £6.13.4d each. Loans of £266,000.
Total authorised capital in 1890 was £2,487,180 in stock and shares, and £824,000 in loans.
