Belfast and County Down Railway Company
Incorporated on 26th June 1846.
A 24 mile line built in the 5ft 6in gauge, running from the Ulster Railway to Downpatrick. It opened in stages between 1848 and 1861. One branch was abandoned in 1861 and instead built by the Belfast, Holywood and Bangor Railway, which company was acquired by the Belfast and County Down Railway in 1884.
Capital £500,000 in 10,000 shares of £50 each. Loans of £166,666. £165,550 raised by subscription for extensions in 1855.
