Description
Charles Pickman arrived in Seville from Liverpool to take over his brother’s business in 1822. The importation of English ceramics was prohibited so the manufacture of English style ceramics was started in the city using the buildings of the now defunct Monastery of Santa Maria de la Cuevas. By 1849 the company was employing some 500 workers. Charles was created Marquis Pickman by King Amadeo I in 1873. This company was formed in 1899 and following several reconstructions the business still thrives in the area.
