Darling Downs and Western Land Company Limited
Formed in Queensland by 1889. One of the more important companies in Queensland formed with the help of Queensland National Bank and became one of the largest holders of land in the colony. Certificates are often signed by Joseph Capel Smyth (1838-1914), member of Queensland Legislative Council from 1882 until his resignation in 1910. Joshua Thomas Bell (1863-1911), son of Sir Joshua Peter Bell. Member of Queensland Legislative Assembly. Home secretary for eight months during 1908-09, elected Speaker in 1909, a post which he held until his death.
