Ilen Valley Railway Company
Incorporated on 25th July 1872. A 15 mile line originally named the Dunmanway and Skibbereen Railway, which ran between the towns. It opened in 1877 and built the Bantry Extension Railway in 1878. The line was worked by the Cork and Bandon Railway.
Capital £80,000 in £10 shares, of which £53,000 is guaranteed 5% stock, and £27,000 ordinary stock. Bantry extension capital of £70,000 in shares and £35,000 in loans.
