Description
The company was established to combine a number of small steam shipping businesses active on the Volga River into one consolidated limited company. Its chairman was Count Arthur Ivanovich Cherep-Spiridovich (1868-1926). He was a Tsarist general and white Russian loyalist. Following the Bolshevik Revolution, he moved to the United States where he was involved in anti-semitic activism and was perhaps best known as the author of “Secret World Government of The Hidden Hand” in which he described how 300 Jewish families supposedly ruled the world.
