The company was founded in 1893 with head office in St. Petersburg. Initial capital was in shares of 200 roubles and by 1897 had reached 7,500,000 roubles. By 1917, capital had reached 15,375,000 roubles, in shares of 200 roubles. The 125 rouble provisional certificate of 1917 is puzzling.

Description
The company was founded by the Paul Grigorievitch von Derwies (the ‘Railroad King’) to link the Russian railroad network with various river shipping lines. The transport business focused on the Volga and Caspian Seas, especially for the transport of oil.
