Boston & Colonial Steam Ship Company
Incorporated in 1865 to run steamers between Boston & Prince Edward’s Island. They purchased the Confederate blockade runner ‘Greyhound’ on which the Confederate spy Miss Belle Boyd was captured but the ship was lost in December 1865 after striking rocks off the coast of Nova Scotia. Most certificates are signed by Franklin Snow as President and Henry Mayo as Treasurer Henry Mayo appears to be an experience steamboat captain and Franklin Snow & Co. were Boston fish dealers. They were also advertising steamship excursions in 1866.
