Incorporated in New York by 1881. Named after politician Felix Grundy of Nashville, the company owned a coal mine in Tennessee. Controlled by the Munroe family who are usually signatories in particular Henry S. Munroe. Also his father Edmund Munroe. Henry Munroe was a mining consultant and engineer and later became professor of mining at Columbia University.
