Kennebeck Bridge
Incorporated in Maine on 8th February 1796 to build a toll-bridge across the Kennebec River at Fort Western (now preserved as the oldest log fort in the US) in Hallowell, Augusta. $19,800 was subscribed in $100 shares. The bridge was completed in November 1797 at a cost of $27,000, the resulting debts meaning that no dividend could be paid for eight years.
