Chivers & Sons Limited
Originating as fruit farmers in Histon, Cambridgeshire, Chivers produced their first jam in 1873. Registered as a private company 14th March 1901 and converted to a public company in 1913. Still a household name in brand only as the company was acquired by Schweppes in 1958.
Capital £200,000 in shares of £1, 100,000 Preference and 100,000 Ordinary. Increased to £250,000 in 1903 and to £350,000 in 1913, to £450,000 in 1919, 1923 to £750,000 and in 1926 to £950,000.
