Established by Alfred Harmsworth (Lord Northcliffe) in 1903 as a newspaper for women and run by women. Later sold to his brother Harold (Lord Rothermere) who had suppported Mussolini and Hitler in the 1930’s. Later under new ownership to become the most popular tabloid with 5 million plus circulation and still exists today (2024).
