Chard Railway and Canal Company
Incorporated on 16th July 1846
A conversion of the existing Chard Canal into a railway line, to be connected with the Bristol and Exeter Railway. An extension from this main line to the town of Chard (4 ¾ miles) was authorised, but the company did not raise the necessary capital for either works and went into bankruptcy in 1853.
