Bolton, Blackburn, Clitheroe and West Yorkshire Railway Company
Incorporated 9th July 1847
An amalgamation of the Blackburn, Darwen and Bolton, and the Blackburn, Clitheroe and West Yorkshire Railways. The line thus connected the Manchester and Bolton, and the Midland Railways. It provided a route between Manchester and Glasgow together with the Midland line, and was completed in 1851. The company was renamed the Blackburn Railway, becoming part of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway in 1859.
Capital £1,000,000 in shares of £25 each. Loans of £333,000.
