
Caledonian Railway Company
Incorporated on 31st July 1845
A major line running from the West Coast system in England (Carlisle), joining the Scottish Central Railway, and subsequently the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway taking the route through to Perth and beyond. The company took control of many major railways along its route including the Glasgow, Paisley and Greenock, and the Scottish Central Railways. When it became grouped into the LMSR it held over 3,000 miles of lines.
Authorised Capital £35,274,110, of which £32,565,110 raised in stock and shares. Loans of £9,350,411.
