
Cambrian Railways Company
Incorporated on 25th July 1864
An amalgamation of the Oswestry and Newtown; Llanidloes and Newtown; Newtown and Machynnleth; Oswestry, Ellesmere and Whitchurch, and the Aberystwyth and Welsh Coast Railways. Others joined in later years and the lines ran over 230 miles throughout Mid-Wales.
Authorised Capital £5,000,000 approximately, originally split into sections for the Inland, Coastal and Joint undertakings.
