Grand Theatre (Islington) Ltd
Registered 1896. The second Grand Theatre built on the site, originally occupied by the Philharmonic Hall in 1860 which was destroyed by fire in 1882. The first Grand Theatre which replaced it also burnt down in 1887. The theatre to which this record relates was built in 1888 and seated 3000 people and was one of the largest in London. It however met a similar fate and burnt down in 1900! It was replaced by a further theatre, renamed Islington Empire in 1908 and then in the 1930 became a part of the ABC Cinema group. Demolished in 1981 to make way for a branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland. Dissolved <1916. Company number 48697.
