H & J. Gwynne had been building their famous pumps at the Hammersmith Iron Works since the 1850’s and they combined with another family firm in 1903 to form this company. During WWI they built aero engines with the aid of W.O.Bentley who was drafted in as a Naval engineer for a short time. After the war the company produced the Albert and Gwynne-Albert motor cars becoming Gwynnes Engineering Co. Ltd. in 1920.
