Registered 1898. Walter Weldon, 1832-1885, started his publications of needlework and fashion, Weldons Ladies’ Journal and a huge range of dressmaking patterns in the 1880’s. This company was part of the Newnes publishng empire. Sir George Newnes, 1851 – 1910, said to be the father of popular journalism, founder of Tit Bits and Country Life among others.
