Chester and Holyhead Railway Company
Incorporated on 4th July 1844
An 84 ¾ mile line running from Chester along the coast to Holyhead on Anglesey, via the Britannia Tubular Bridge. The line opened in stages, and amalgamated with the Mold Railway in 1849. It was worked by the London and North Western from 1856, and was vested in that company in 1858.
Original capital £2,100,000 in shares of £50 each; Preference share capital £1,155,000; Loans of £1,084,382.
