Clarence Railway Company
Incorporated on 23rd May 1828
A 15 ½ mile line connecting with the Stockton and Darlington Railway, and including numerous branch lines. The line also had connections with the Durham and Sunderland, the Great North of England, the Clarence and Hartlepool Junction, and the West Durham Railways when they were opened in later years. It was leased to the Stockton and Hartlepool Railway in 1844, and later amalgamated with the North Eastern Railway.
Original capital £300,000 in shares of £100 each. Total capital £799,645.
