Incorporated on 20th August 1853
A line linking the towns over a 21 mile stretch and connecting with the Newport, Abergavenny and Hereford Railway. It was opened in part and worked by the Newport company from 1856, and was completed the following year. The Great Western first leased the line in 1861, and it passed to them in 1887.
