Formed as a reconstruction of the Great Tower Hill Gold Mines Ltd., the name was originally registered as the Great Tower Hill Gold Mines (1908) Ltd. This was changed to Gwalia Proprietary Ltd., in November 1908. The company owned various leases in Western Australia with the main property being the Great Tower Hill mine at Mount Malcolm. The company entered into liquidation in order to reconstruct under the same name. The scheme was not under taken and the assets where acquired by the Gwalia Central Gold Mines Ltd.
