Southern Railway Company
Incorporated on 5th July 1865. A 22 mile line to connect the Great Southern and Western in Thurles, to the Waterford and Limerick in Clonmel. It was worked by both companies, and passed to the Commissioners of Public Works in the 1890’s.
Capital £171,000 in shares of £10 each. Loans of £57,000. Additional of £60,000 and £20,000 respectively raised in 1866, and another £20,000 in shares in 1874.
