Formed as a second reconstruction of the New Zealand Kapanga Gold Mining Co., Ltd. being registered in 1872 and first reconstructed in 1880 as the Kapanga Gold Mining Co., of New Zealand Ltd. In 1891 the property of the Coromandel Gold Co., Ltd. was acquired. The company was again reconstructed in 1893 under the same name.
