Companhia Nacional de Caminhos de Ferro
Incorporated in Lisbon in 1885 to operate narrow gauge lines in the Norte region of Portugal. To construct and operate the first section of the Tua Line, between Foz Tua and Mirandela (opened 1887) as well as a line from Santa Comba Dao to Viseu (opened 1890). From 1906 onwards, it also operated the Corgo Line and 5 years later, the Linha do Sabor was added to its network. Nationalised in 1947. Capital by 1903 had reached Rs 1,534,365,000 in shares of Rs 15,000.
