Formed in 1871 with head office in Tiflis (now Tbilisi in Georgia). Initial capital was 500,000 in shares of 200 roubles. In 1883, capital was increased to 1,000,000 roubles and then in 1895, to 2,000,000 roubles. In 1910, capital increased to 3,000,000 roubles; in 1910 to 6,000,000 roubles and in 1916, to 10,000,000 roubles. Replacement certificates were issued every 10 years when coupons were exhausted. The name of the bank was changed to Banque de Caucase about 1914.
