Issued £10,000,000 in January 1917 for war expenditure. Repayable at the Bank of England in January 1918. In January 1918, the Bank of England gave notice that they were authorised by the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty’s Treasury to receive applications for the exchange of these Treasury Bills, in the event of their non-payment at maturity, for a like amount of British Exchequer bonds bearing interest at 3% and repayable at par on 28th January 1930.
