Description
Lakhta is a large piece of land, some 4,500 hectares, close to St. Petersburg. It was first owned by Peter the Great, then by Count Grigory Orlov, and then by Count Stenbock-Fermor. In 1913, the Count created this company to further develop the land by building 150-200 dachas (vacation homes) for the upper class of St Petersburg. To this, he added recreational facilities such as tennis courts, a horse racing track and theatres.
