Description

The company was founded by Savva Ivanovich Mamontov (1841-1918). He was a famous Russian industrialist and patron of the arts, especially active in railroad construction and was appointed chairman of the Moscow-Yaroslavl Railway in 1872. The company acquired an already existing iron foundry at Bratsk, Irkutsk Oblast and produced rails for the Trans-Siberian Railroad.
