Incorporated by 1894 under laws of the South African republic. A Director was Sir James Percy Fitzpatrick (1862-1931), author, politician and mining financier. Secretary of the reform Committee in 1895 which conspired to overthrow Kruger’s Government. He was charged with Jameson and others for high treason for the ‘Jameson Raid’ and sentenced to two years imprisonment. Released in 1896. he helped raise the Imperial Light Horse at the outbreak of the Boer War. Author of Jock of the Bushveld and The TRansvaal from Within. Instigator of the 2 minute silence onbserve on Armistice Day.
