Aircraft Manufacturing Company Ltd
Registered 1912. Dissolved <1932. Company number 122418. Established in 1912 and grew rapidly during WWI known by its acronym of AIRCO. Controlled by George Holt Thomas, The designs of its aircraft were by Geoffrey de Havilland, later to create a company of his own and were designated DH. By the end of WWI it emploted some 4400 people but was liquidated in 1920 after war work had diminished the company’s business. The assets were acquired by de Havilland and he formed De Havilland Aircraft Company Limited.
Capital £402,500 in 100,000 Cumulative Preference shares of £1; 250,000 Cumulative Participating ‘B’ Preference shares of £1; 50,000 Preferred Ordinary shares of £1 and 50,000 Deferred Ordinary shares of 1 shilling.
