Description
Following the Great War there were numerous combinations formed in various industries. Hatry was a major player and formed combines in engineering, textiles, shipbuilding and glass. His operations lasted until 1929 when his group collapsed despite his drastic efforts to prop up the business. Unfortunately there were some fraudulent dealings and he was tried and convicted for fraud, serving 9 years in prison. The collapse of his group in September is thought to be one factor in the Wall Street Crash in the following month.
