Calder and Hebble Navigation
Incorporated on 21st April 1769. A broad waterway in West Yorkshire, connecting the River Calder and the Rochdale Canal at one end and the Aire and Calder Navigation at the other, following the course of the river for much of its length. It was extended to Halifax in 1825, and taken over by the latter company in 1847. It is still open for leisure use today.
Capital £75,000 in £100 shares. Loans of £20,000. Increased in 1825 by £40,000 for extension, with extra £10,000 if required, all loans.
