Avon and Gloucestershire Railway Company
Incorporated on 19th June 1828
Owned by the Kennet and Avon Canal Company, the standard gauge line connected the Bristol and Gloucestershire Railway and local collieries and quarries to Bitton on the River Avon. The line opened in July 1832, and passed to the Great Western along with the Canal in 1852.
Capital £21,000 in shares and £10,000 in loans. Increased to a total of £46,000 by 1841.
