Birkenhead, Lancashire and Cheshire Junction Railway Company
Incorporated on 26th June 1846
A standard gauge line linking the Chester and Birkenhead Railway with the Manchester and Birmingham Railway. The company absorbed the Birkenhead, Manchester and Cheshire Junction, and the Chester and Birkenhead Railways in 1847. In 1859 it was re-named the Birkenhead Railway, and it was quickly acquired by the London and North Western, and the Great Western companies.
Original capital £1,500,000 in shares of £33.6.8 each. Loans of £500,000. Capital after amalgamations £2,550,000 divided into; £825,000 in £27.10 shares; £330,000 in £22 shares, and £1,395,000 in £31 shares. £600,000 in loans.
