Blyth and Tyne Railway Company
Incorporated on 30th June 1852
A 20 mile line running from Blyth, passing through coal and mining districts, and joining the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway. The lines were extended numerous times before and following the initial opening in 1860. The company became amalgamated with the North Eastern Railway in 1874.
Capital £150,000 in shares of £25 each. Extension capital in 1853 of £60,000 in new shares, borrowings of £20,000 by mortgage.
