Brigg Gas Company (Limited)
Formed by Deed of Settlement in 1836 to supply Glanford Brigg with gas. In 1850 the site of the works moved requiring new share capital to be raised. In 1872 a further Deed of Settlement was drawn up to increase the company’s capital value to £4500. Registered as a Limited Liability company in 1873 (Company number 6970). Brigg Urban District Council bought the company under the statutory power of the Brigg Urban District Gas Act 1899. The limits of supply were slightly enlarged through the Brigg Gas Order 1937, to take in the entirety of Broughton. Nationalised in 1949, becoming part of the North Lincolnshire sub-division of the Lincolnshire division of the East Midlands Gas Board.
