Brighton and Rottingdean Seashore Electric Tramroad Company
Incorporated on 21st June 1893
A unique railway which would run through the sea on submerged tracks at a gauge of 18ft! It was the idea of Magnus Volk who had also designed the ‘electric railway’ from Brighton Aquarium to Black Rock. The 3 mile sub-marine line opened in 1896 and connected with its predecessor at Banjo Groin, however it was closed in 1901 due to construction difficulties.
