Bristol and Portishead (Pier and) Railway Company
Incorporated on 29th June 1863
Involved the construction of a Pier in Portbury, and a 10 mile broad gauge line connecting it to the Bristol and Exeter Railway. It opened in 1867, followed by the docks in 1879. It was eventually absorbed and worked by the Great Western following their amalgamation with the Bristol and Exeter in 1876.
Capital £200,000 in shares of £25 each. Loans of £66,600. £75,000 in preference stock issued in 1880, and new loans of £25,000.
