Channel Bridge and Railway Company Ltd

Formed to build a bridge across the Channel between England and France using over 1,000,000 tons of steel. Not surprisingly the plain did not go ahead but instead the company was granted permission to build large ferry boats which could carry railway carriages. The concession was passed to the Intercontinental Railway Co. Ltd. in 1902.
