Charing Cross Railway Company
Incorporated on 8th August 1859
A line allowing the South Eastern Railway to reach north of the Thames via the Hungerford Bridge, the latter company subscribing £300,000 towards the work. The company took over the Hungerford Bridge in 1860 (previously property of the Hungerford and Charing Cross Bridge companies), and further capital was raised. It was extended again in 1861, the South Eastern contributing £250,000 to this, and they acquired the line in 1863. The lines opened between 1864 and 1866.
Original Capital £800,000 in shares of £20 each, loans of £266,000.
Additional in 1860 of £120,000 and loans £40,000;
Extension capital in 1861 of £525,000 and loans £175,000.
