Cheddar Valley and Yatton Railway Company
Incorporated on 14th July 1864
Originally to run only 9 ½ miles between the towns, the actual line was 17 ½ miles in length after having passed to the Bristol and Exeter Railway (who had contributed to the capital) in 1865. It opened to Wells in 1870 and became part of the Great Western system in 1876. Broad gauge, converted to Standard in1875.
Capital £170,000 in shares and £56,000 in loans.
