Cheltenham and Great Western Union Railway Company
Incorporated on 21st July 1836
A broad gauge line connecting Cheltenham and Gloucester and running to Swindon and the Great Western Railway. The Cheltenham to Gloucester stretch became owned by the Birmingham and Gloucester Railway, and the line from Swindon to Cirencester opened in 1841. The entire railway was purchased by the Great Western in 1844.
Capital £750,000 in shares and £250,000 in loans.
