Cockermouth and Workington Railway Company
Incorporated on 21st July 1845
A short 8 mile line built in the standard gauge, linking the two towns. It was opened by 1847 and became leased to the London and North Western Railway in 1857, later vested in that company.
Capital £80,000 in 4000 Shares of £20 each. Loans of £26,666. Additional in 1849 for new branch of £27,500 and £9,166 respectively.
