Incorporated on 27th July 1857
A broad gauge line extending the Torquay branch of the South Devon Railway, the Act also included authorisation for a ferry or alternative from Dartmouth to the proposed end point at Kingswear. The line opened in 1859, with further sections in 1861 and the remainder in 1864. The South Devon Railway worked the line, and purchased the company in 1862.
Capital £90,000 in shares of £25 each, and £30,000 in loans.
